In Case of Disaster
If the Governor of your state, the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, or the President of The United States declares a state of disaster or emergency in your geographic area, you are still entitled to care from your plan.
When a disaster or emergency is declared and there is disruption of access to health care, your plan must ensure access to covered benefits until 30 days after either all sources who declared the disaster declare that it has ended, all applicable emergencies and disasters have ended and all declarations have expired without renewal, or there is no longer a disruption of access to health care as defined by federal regulations.
During a disaster in your service area, your plan will allow you to obtain care from out-of-network providers at in-network cost sharing. If you cannot use a network pharmacy during a disaster, you may be able to fill your prescription drugs at an out-of-network pharmacy. For more information, contact Customer Service.
During a disaster or emergency, The Health Plan will pay non-contracted providers at current Medicare rates. The Health Plan will make changes that benefit the enrollee effective immediately without the 30-day notification requirement for Medicare Advantage plan rule changes.
